• A pure world written by Tagore

  “Stray birds of summer come to my window to sing and fly away.” As we know, this is excerpt from Stray Birds.

  Recently, I read the Stray Birds written by Rabindranath Tagore. He is one of the great men who enjoy fame in the world. Also, he is a novelist and a philosopher.

  Stray Birds is one of the famous works written by Tagore. At the same time, it is one of the most outstanding collection of poems, including more than three hundred beautiful poems.

  Day and night, river and sea, freedom and perfidy, all these combine with each other beneath Tagore’s pen. Every short sentence contains profound philosophic theory. It leads people to discover the source of truth and wisdom. For example, “Asks the Possible to the Impossible, ‘Where is your dwelling place?’ ‘In the dreams of the impotent.’ Comes the answer.” Though the sentence is very short, it tells us an important logic that nothing is impossible, but how you think about it. If you think it is impossible, it would just be as you think. So, believe yourself. Don’t give in to anything.

  After reading these little poems, I feel really pure as if I pushed open the window of bedroom after the storm at a summer morning and saw a peaceful and orderly world in where everything is pure and bright-colored with substantial lasting appeal. I have learnt a lot by reading the Stray Birds.

  Here I want to introduce some beautiful sentences to you.

  If you shed tears when you miss the sun, you also miss the stars.

  We come nearest to the great when we are great in humility.

  Thank the flame for its light, but do not forget the lamp holder standing in the shade with constancy of patience.

  We read the world wrong and say that it deceives us.

  Do not insult your friend by lending him merits from your own pocket.

• The importance of military training

  As we all know, the students in Chinese universities need to take part in the military training. In my opinion, I think it’s necessary to take part in the military training. It can strengthen the university students’ military ability and skill, enlarge their knowledge of national defense and guarantee our country of security.   Military training can strengthen students’ military ability and skill. Students will become stronger after military training. They can form good habits and develop noble characters. Revolutionary heroism and collectivism are two main spirits. Students can bear hardships and they are not afraid of any trouble. Through difficult and rigorous skill training, we temper our will、strength our body and culture our tenacious style. Also, our spirit of being not afraid of hardship and tiredness can be shown in military training. Meanwhile, under the influence of our drillmaster’s words and deeds, we will establish correct outlook on life and values.

  Also, military training can enlarge their knowledge of national defense. Through the military training, students increase their sense of national defense and develop the spirit of national defense. In this case, students will concern the country more.

  In addition, military training can guarantee our country of security. Military training is to remind us that the world is not absolute safe as we think, it is full of dangers here and there. Everyone in our country should be in the preparation for defending our country and protecting the people from wars. We need to pay more attention to these.

  So, it is quite important for university students to take part in military training, because it can strengthen the university students’ military ability and skill, enlarge their knowledge of national defense and guarantee our country of security. • One Needs Study History

  As we all know, history is very important to every country, it shows the spirit of the people in the country and tells the process of establishing a state and building up a country. So from my point of view, everyone need to study the history of their countries.

  The ancients said:” Learn from the past guide for the future.” Lessons of the past can be used as a source of reference for the future. Spanish writer Cervantes once said:” History is the sign of ancient, the reference of present and the lesson for the future.” To study history, we should start with reality and discover something important from the past and realize the value of history.

  Of course, history can not only give us reference but also give us education and cognition.

  British historian Carlyle once said:” The whole past is the wealth of the present”. We can pursuit wealth over the past several thousand years from the vast history by studying history; we can question ourselves whether we do well or not compared with the history. To study history, we can sum up the law of historic development and have a clear understanding of it; to study history, we can roam at the excellent culture of ancient people and feel the breathtaking creativity of our ancients. So we can say that history is a inexhaustible treasury.

  And Helvetic Historian Burkhardt once said:” The past has a clear link to the present and the future.”  The history is the past present and the present is the history of future. History can across the boundaries of time. It can not only guide the present but also foresee the future. With the knowledge of history, we will give a better analysis about the past and a more reasonable plan concerning the future. We will live a better life than before. This just is the benefit of learning history.

  For these reasons, it is necessary for us to learn history of our own countries. It can help us make more self-questioning and concerned with the country.
